The Alchemist: A 200 year-old man who lives in the al-fayoum oasis. He dresses in black and carries the Philosopher’s Stone and the Elixir of Life.
Melchizedek: A king who Santiago meets at a market. Melchizedek helps Santiago along his journey.
Crystal Merchant: A man who runs a crystal shop in Tangier. He employs Santiago, and the shop thrives. He is fearful of change.
